Things We Think But Do Not Say !!!
Well, yes the title is inspired from Jerry Maguire, but the post is my own version of it and my perspective. Just thought of having this post after our teacher showed us the results of the Schwrtz Scale, that was given by the students in my university.
Its really amazing to know that although you present yourself as something else, you really are not the person you showcase. And thats the case with everyone around you as well. Probably, life has made us so mechanical that we have failed to overlook the small things in life, and with the passage of time, these small things have become big, to make us an entirely different person that we thought we were.
How many times does it happen , that you want to do something different, or probably your ideas (or even ideals) do not match with the others, but you tend to do it, just because the crowd does it. We fail to realize or even speak out our own ideas , values with the thought of its effect on the social circles or something else.
The truth is that , time changes us all, but yes we do have a control over it and if we think that we are all the same, and a little shadowing yourself does not matter, we are wrong . Slowly and steadily, after a brief period of time , you will find out how much time has changed you, without you realizing that.
Solan Trip
Well, wanted to blog about this since a pretty long time. Just visited the JUIT fest in Waknaghat, Solan District recently. For those who do not know, Solan is located in Himachal Pradesh and is just 50 km away from Simla. The fest was called Le` Feistus. It was a fun filled trip. Right from the moment we left the college, we were all loud and shouting.
The fest was not a high profile one, but the location of the place was truly awesome. After spending so much of time in a place like Noida, it felt great experiencing the silence and the calmness of the mountains. The sky looked great at nights, and after a very very long time did I see so many stars blanketing me. The peace and the silence made youjust wanting to sit there and wander about the universe and life. Sky gazing took me back to memories of my child hood when we used to sleep in the terrace and looked at those wonderful stars and the airplanes flying by. A very long time has passed since then and I don`t know whether days like those would ever come back.
After the trip, I started searching for some of the best places to upload the photos that we had taken. After much finding , Picassa turned out to be the best. With great tools for editing photos and the upload speed, and free storage with upto 2GB, it turned out to be the best. So few of my days were simply spent in uplaoding the pics.
Hoping to soon make one more trip a memorable one ! ! !
No Suitable Title
My first post in April !!! Life has been pretty hectic in the last few weeks. Right after the return from the JUIT fest at waknaghat in solan, I have been thinking about what to write in my new post…but alas…it never happened..Anyways, I am finally back to blogging.
I registered for google adsense some last week or so. And since the day I got my confirmation, I have been doin some research on how to add Google Adsense to my blog. First, I realized that the free wordpress blog, did not support the use of pluginssuch as Google Adsense, which were available. So my search began to find myself a free web hosting site. Finally, after filling out a couple of forms on some websites, I landed up at the right place. It had all the pre-requistes for starting a WordPress blog. So, now I follow the instructions step by step hoping to taste success. However, it did not work, but helped me to discover that the site itself had an autoinstaller for WordPress blogs. So, now I install the wordpress blog and even import my existing blog out there. Then when it comes to uploading the Google Adsense plugin, the thing I originally inteded to do, I find it out that it does not work. So thinking that it might be some sort of hotch-potch with the file manager that I may not able to find the correct location, I proceed to delete all the contents of the site, only to find that even the default home page was washed away, leaving me helpless. Now, I register one more account on that site. And this time even Google Adsense plugin works, but not on the page where it is supposed to work. So I use my brains and insted of copying the directory, I move the directory to some other location, leaving even this account as useless as the other.
So finally, after much struggle, I realize that I am still sticking to the good old wordpress blog without any “Ads By Goooogle” !!!
Finally a new post..!!!
My Last post dates back to 17 Feb., which is a month back. Life has been pretty hectic since then. There is so much work to be done but hardly anything is accomplished. I did go home with a plan to complete all my pending labs, but sadly, my lab status is still the same even after one week of returning from home. Leave apart labs, project has started to cause lots of pain.
Well, Life is not the same anymore. It was much more fun and exciting some two years back in school. It’s not that, I am not able to take on the pressure, but the fun and the excitement part is missing. Probably it is because of the environment in here. But the fact remains, I miss school. It was lot more fun out there.
Life has started to feel very incomplete in the last few days and the problem is I am unable to figure out what goes in that empty space. Exams coming up again in April and the same old story repeats.
I just started reading “The Google Story” by David Vise. It is pretty interesting although I have just reached the fifth chapter so far. Almost reads like a fairy tale, how Brin and Page met in Stanford and created the extra-ordinary tool that has become so inseparable from the lives of every computer users. I was just thinking about spending an hour without any Google tool-Gmail, Gtalk, Orkut, Search,Youtube (ya Google bought it some time back)….not possible!!! Google has managed to inject itself into every aspects of our networked life. And the best part of it is- it does not charge you.
Exams Again !!!
Life is beautiful and great when there are no no examinations. But the very week before the exams commence, the campus wears a deserted look, the garden and the tennis stands remain empty. The cafetaria still continues its brisk business, but the atmosphere is altogether different. Couples sitting together, with their laptops explaining something or the other to their partner. Rumours about the type of question paper, marking style spread like wildfire during such times. Everyone will be seen with a book and talking about the course and cursing either the teacher or the subject.
Its the same this time as well. Test 1 starts tomorrow. The weather outside has changed drastically since the past two days. Its been drizzling since almost two days now & the temperature has dipped. I just feel like leaving all the books and the slides and roaming around. The weather today reminded me of my trip to Munnar.
But again, exams starts tomorrow and I still have lots and lots to study ….
Finally Installed Vista !!!!!
Finally, I installed Windows Vista on my PC today. Initially I wanted to use my external hard drive to install windows vista, but unfortunately vista does not support USB or firewire. After that, I had decided to dilute my plans of installing the new OS.

Today morning, after I found out I had nothing much to do, I decided to go on with my Vista installation, hoping it does not corrupt my boot record and everything goes fine, and it did. After less than an hour, my PC was up running Microsoft`s latest OS smoothly.
I must say, the installation was extremely smooth, with minimum user interference. Unlike XP, I hardly had to do anything during the installation. The look and feel of Vista, as MS claims is very different from its predecessor. Good security features and a realy friendly and an exciting user interface.
Although my system (P4 2.6Ghz,D865G,1GB DDR,160 GB HDD) rated only 1 on its Windows Experience Index (WEI), it worked very smoothly without any hang ups. Only if IE7 would have had an integrated download manager, the browsing experience would have been great. The search capabilities of Vista is truly amazing. At just the press of the key in the start menu, it lists out the search results.
For me, driver compatibilty did not turn out to be a great problem, as it gladly accpeted my Winxp sound card drivers. However, I have read about the problems with those having other hardware like a graphic card or a modem or a TV tuner card.
One of the features I am waiting to try is the ready boost. It allows your USB flash memory to use it as system memory to improve the performance. But currently I am not able to find a USB memory to do the trick for me.
Critics might say that Vista is higly inspired from MAC OSX. But,whatever it is, in the end, what matters to the end users is the availability of resources (hardarwe and software) and compatibility with the other readily available softwares.
Well, the beta versions of Vista has done the trick for MS. The pre-release version is worth a try.
Its less than 24 hrs, that i have been using Vista, but Ill definitely advice everyone to give it a try.
Triumph Of the Nerds
The title is actually Movie Review:Triumph Of the Nerds. But apperently the word “movie review ” fall under the Blocked category of my college`s proxy server, and hence this title.
Well, a lot of time has indeeed passed since I last made a new post in here. Life has been
pretty much hectic. College started and the usual labs and the tutorials started taking their toll.
Saw a movie yesterday, rather a documentary. I had earlier read about this, while I was going through some of articles about Apple and Microsoft. It was indeed a very well made film. The film captured the PC revolution, right from the Altair 8800 times. It has real life interview with all the who`s who of Silicon Valley, such as Bill Gates, Steve Jobs, Paul Allen, Steve Wozniak and the other industry greats.
The film lasting for a 150 minutes is very nicely guided by a nerd of the silicon valley himself. The film highlights the entry of IBM into the PC business and battling it with Apple and later with the IBM clones to emerge as the winner. All the actual locations have been revisited which brings the excitement back.
In all, its a must watch for all those geeks and nerds.
Happy New Year !!!
My first post in 2007…First of all, wishing all the readers ” A VERY VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR”. One more year down the lane…well, more on this later..I am not really in a mood now, to express everything what I am thinking now..
Saddam;Compiled and Executed
The reports of the former Iraqi President Saddam Hussein being hanged have been confirmed. The capital punishment was imposed on him after his trial for crimes against humanity. Saddam was found guilty over killing of 148 Shitte members in 1982,during Iraq`s war with Shitte Iran.

Saddam was found three years back, in a hole in the ground by the US armed forces.Along with Saddam,Barzan Ibrahim, his half brother and former Intelligence chief and Awad Hamed al-Bandar,former head of Revolutionary Court was also hanged.
President Bush and PM Blair, have so far not issued any official statement to the media. However, it won`t be surprising to find the American President`s reaction like the one it was when Saddam was found by US troops.
