Finally Installed Vista !!!!!

Finally, I installed Windows Vista on my PC today.  Initially I wanted to use my external hard drive to install windows vista, but unfortunately vista does not support USB or firewire. After that, I had decided to dilute my plans of installing the new OS.

Today morning, after I found out I had nothing much to do, I decided to go on with my Vista installation, hoping it does not corrupt my boot record and everything goes fine, and it did. After less than an hour, my PC was up running Microsoft`s latest OS smoothly.

I must say, the installation was extremely smooth, with minimum user interference. Unlike XP, I hardly had to do anything during the installation. The look and feel of Vista, as MS claims is very different from its predecessor. Good security features and a realy friendly and an exciting user interface.

Although my system (P4 2.6Ghz,D865G,1GB DDR,160 GB HDD) rated only 1 on its Windows Experience Index (WEI), it worked very smoothly without any hang ups. Only if  IE7 would have had an integrated download manager, the browsing experience would have been great. The search capabilities of Vista is truly amazing. At just the press of the key in the start menu, it lists out the search results.

For me, driver compatibilty did not turn out to be a great problem, as it gladly accpeted my Winxp sound card drivers. However, I have read about the problems with those having other hardware like a graphic card or a modem or a TV tuner card.

One of the features I am waiting to try is the ready boost. It allows your USB flash memory to use it as system memory to improve the performance. But currently I am not able to find a USB memory to do the trick for me.

Critics might say that Vista is higly inspired from MAC OSX. But,whatever it is, in the end, what matters to the end users is the availability of resources (hardarwe and software) and compatibility with the other readily available softwares.

Well, the beta versions of Vista has done the trick for MS. The pre-release version is worth a try.

Its less than 24 hrs, that i have been using Vista, but Ill definitely advice everyone to give it a try.
